The
Fermanagh Association Belfast was founded on 25 February 2002. A
group of men originally from the Lakeland county and who were now
settled in Belfast found themselves meeting socially on a regular
basis. Their shared passion for GAA games in general, and the fortunes
of Fermanagh Senior GAA team in particular, provided a strong bond
envied by emigrants of other countries. Their desire to utilise
the strength of their friendship and combined influence to organise
social and cultural events led the group to meet in the old Regency
Hotel under the stewardship of one particularly favoured Fermanagh
man. Hugh Vincent Crudden.
This meeting on the 25 February 2002 resulted in the election of
the Association's first ever committee under the Chairmanship of
Peter O'Reilly, Teemore, and the Presidency of Hugh Vincent Crudden,
Aughdrumsee.
